Cross-Ocean

Sailing across large bodies of water like the pacific, say from hawaii to the west coast can take a few weeks. It can be a challenge, but I find the challenge as quite enjoyable. The preparation before departure is were the really hard work is. The can be other challenges like lack of refrigeration, fuel, or water. Not to speak of the weather, although summer time when the pacific high is set up its kind of a no brainer with the trade winds being the most difficult part of it.

I have done 8 pacific crossings, 7 sailboats, and one power boat listed as so:

60′ commercial long liner 1998 astoria to dutch harbor

hunter 40 summer of 2011, san francisco to Hawaii

Crowthers 42′ catamaran summer 2016 hawaii to seattle

Morris 45 summer 2018 hawaii to seattle

Pacer 42 summer 2019 hawaii to LA

Gemini 105mc winter of 2020 LA to Hawaii

baltic 38 fall of 2022 hawaii to neah bay

sunseeker 54 fall 2023 LA to hawaii

One thing for sure is that these passages have awesome sunsets and sunrises. As well the fishing is usually really good.
