Private boat work covers many situations, like survey/sea-trial, boats that owners use privately, for corporate events, and some times charter like situations. I have worked for several private owners on small and large vessels.
Usually private work for yachts is salary position, rarely are gratuities involved. Being an engineer adds value in this type of a position also.
