Charter cat in exhuma’s

I had a call on saturday morning about heading over to Nassau to do a charter on a sunreef 68.

So had them book a red eye flight so I could arrive at the boat on sunday afternoon. Once I arrived I had about 1 hr to check the fluids and get prepped to leave.

We headed to Stanley Cay to pick up the guests as them had joined there friends on another boat. The sunreef 68 is fairly boxy, but is one of the only boats that has three sides of doors that open up the walls.

I spent three weeks on this boat with two weeks of charters. We had issues with the generators, water maker, electric winch, and some of the rigging on the main sail. Was able to coble parts together for the generator, and taught the 1st mate about turning off the pressure of the water maker before turning on the power.

Flew my drone alot, and got some great footage of the boat.

Pilothouse trawler delivery everett to astoria, OR

Helped one of my long time crew members deliver his boat from Everett to Astoria, Or

We spent some time before the delivery setting up double racor filters just in case the tanks gave us trouble.

Took about 3 days and the only issue we had was hitting a crab pot. We were in the crab lanes even.

She is a good boat and she will be cruising on the columbia river and up in the PNW.

1998 Sunseeker 54 from LA to Hawaii

Delivered this sunseeker from LA to Hawaii.  She only had a 500 gallon internal fuel tank, so we put three 500 gallon fuel bags in the dinghy garage, and the VIP and guest staterooms.  As well we put 7 55 gallon barrel’s on the fly bridge and setup fuel transportation system from the fuel bags and barrels to fill the internal fuel tank.

I spent about a month down in LA and in mexico preparing her for the delivery, this included the auto pilot, 12 volt electrical system, and lots of hose clamps on the exhaust system.

It took 22 days for us to get to hawaii.  We were concerned about the fuel bags as they stared leaking.  We transferred fuel from the aft fuel bag to the main tank, barrels and forward fuel bags to mitigate losing fuel.

About half way across the pacific a low pressure system sagged to the south and displaced the trade winds.  For three days we had head winds, and could only do 4.5 knots.

We could have headed south to get out of the west wind, but I figured it was not worth it because of our fuel situation.

So we spent 3 days in west wind and seas at idle, we did make about 100 miles per day though and eventually the easterly trade winds filled in and we were doing 8 knots towards hawaii.

About 4 days out of Kona we started catching fish.  Caught 22 dorados in about 3 days.

Once we arrived in Kona on December 23rd, we flew out my first mate, filled up the boat and took off for waikiki.

We arrived early the next morning December 24th.  Had breakfast with the owner.  Spent christmas day at hawaii yacht club at a BBQ, then flew home on the 26th.

This was my first power boat delivery to hawaii, my other 7 transits between hawaii and the west coast have been sailboats.
